Team.

The Board.

Our board meets a minimum of once a month and requires at least seven directors in attendance to make a quorum. Currently we have 12 directors, and our constitution requires a fair distribution of representation across Ngarluma families. Our board is up for election every year at our AGM.

Our directors have a duty:

  • of care and diligence
  • not to improperly use their position or information
  • not to trade while insolvent
  • to act in good faith
  • to disclose conflicts of interest

Our Elders.

An Aboriginal Elder is someone recognised as a custodian of traditional lore and cultural beliefs, who also has permission to share this knowledge.

Ngarluma Elders are a vital part of our community and are involved in the daily management of Ngarluma Aboriginal Corporation (NAC). Any major Ngarluma activities and concerns are always discussed with Elders and their recommendations are given considerable weight to any decisions made.

Our elders:

  • Provide advice on Native Title and heritage matters
  • Go on Country to assist survey teams
  • Are crucial in the preservation of language and culture
