The Ngarluma people are the original inhabitants of the coastal areas around Roebourne (West Pilbara Western Australia). Archaeological surveys reveal that continuous occupation & ancestry stretches back more than 30,000 years, and important cultural sites such as the rock art on the Burrup Peninsula (Karratha) show a deep historical and spiritual connection to the land, waterways & rivers & the sea.

Ngarluma Aboriginal Corporation has been proactive in its support for Clontarf to build a new football academy in Roebourne. Clontarf is an organization that “aims to improve health, employment, education and life skills of teenaged male Indigenous population.” The NAC was approached during a consultation phase, and moved into a more formal relationship with Clontarf.

PROJECTS

The NASH plan is to develop a new housing community on approximately 50 hectares of land next to Roebourne, for up to 400 housing lots and to provide land for educational, community and commercial facilities to enhance the opportunities for all Indigenous people in Roebourne.
